Big 40!!.......

Yes today is that day - my 40th Birthday!!!!! Yes I am old!!!!! My girls have been teasing me all morning - telling me I look old and grey.

I have been really lucky and received so many lovely handmade cards - I have also received some lovely stash pressies from some of my forum friends - how generous and fabby they are! Thank you to everyone who sent me a card I appreciate them all so much. I will post some photos when the light is better here.

I have been a lucky girl - got a laptop from DH and some lovely stash from my girls along with vouchers and some other pressies too. Mum gave me money so I can choose something as well!

I made this quick card for the challenge on Scrummy Stash Cafe Blog - to use decorative edges. So out came my trusty scallop edged scissors!

The next 2 are really quick cards made for the DCM challenge which is to use pins and needles. I love these pins sooo much!

A few people asked about the large snowflake I used in the last post - It is cut using a sizzix die, I used some very thin chipboard ( the back of a 6 x 6 pad) and then glitter card glued on top. Thanks for all the lovely comments.

Right off now to inspect my grey hairs - my girls informed me this morning that they have doubled overnight!

Snow is falling...

Well it's sunny here really but I just had to try out my new snowflake die! I made this card for Fab's big Christmas challenge. Christmas cards are my favourite to make so this was a great challenge for me. I managed to use up lots of old stash as well.

I am going to try and make 3 this month so I will post the other 2 when they are finished.

A couple of Challenges..

This weeks DCM little extra challenge was;

Our midweek Little Extra is titled ‘The Flowers That Bloom In The Spring’ and we would like you to create a card with flowers.Simple? Aww but hold on…….there’s a little twist because we don’t want to make it too easy for you. We want your cards to have flowers on but we don’t want to see any Prima’s or shop brought blooms. The idea of this dare is for you create your flowers yourself, so let’s see what you can come up with.

So I made this card with circles using BG gypsy papers.
The second card is for the Artygirlz challenge this week. Guess designer this week is my lovely friend Sam who makes the most fabulous creations. She set this challenge;
Make something that includes chocolate! Chocolate coloured paper, ribbons, flowers, chocolate smelling embossing powder. A chocolate cake perhaps! The only other condition is that it HAS to include only one other colour (oh ok I'll let you have white too then lol)

I have used shades of blue with chocolate, and it's the first time I have used these stamps to make a postcard effect. The card blank is 'off white' (well maybe cream coloured!) I hope this counts Sam ;O)

I really enjoyed these 2 challenges.

Happy Easter!

A couple of days ago this little lot arrived on my doorstep - my prize for coming second in the Sizzix catergory of cardmaking and Papercraft's Cardmaker of the year competition.

Pretty generous prize I thought! Roll on Christmas 'coz I can't wait to try that large snowflake out!

Not much from me lately as I have packed away my stash for a couple of weeks(sob, sob!) as I have so much to do around the house I keep getting distracted! However I did need to make my brother an Anniversary card this week ;

A bit of a quick effort - I do love these pins from Fancy Pants - I bought several packs from the US in all different colours, so expect to see a few more of these! I can't believe he has been married sooooo long! Thinking about it I have been married 19 years - OMG! I must have been about 7 when I got married - I need to have a word with my Mum as I am sure that's illegal!;o)

Enjoy your Easter!

Another challenge completed....

Ok so that is two challenges completed in a week!! I made this little notebook for the Artygirlz challenge this week which is to use stars;

This little book is on its way to a forum friend's daughter who has been feeling very poorly. I hope this will cheer her up a bit. I still love using my bind-it-all!
I made this Easter card (never made one before) just for the hell of it!! I can't put down my new stash from Papertrey and the colours are perfect for Easter. I have been trying to think of ways to use up these bazzill card circles I used to get with my SA kit, so I thought I would try making a few round cards. Love this ribbon sooooooo much!

These are a few of my favourite things!

Don't faint I've actually completed a dare challenge! This weeks little extra on DCM blog was right up my street;

What you need to do is use one of Mel's favourite things on your card (embroidery cotton/thread, buttons, felt or fabric) and combine it with one of your favourite things.

Not really difficult as it seems that my favourite things are identical to Mels! So I have machine stitched using thread for Mel's favourite item, done a bit of hand stitching and for my favourite thing I have added ribbon. I seem to want to distresss the edges of everything at the mo - not sure I haven't overdone it a bit on this card though :oS

Papertrey yumminess....

Postie brought me a little parcel of yuminess this morning - from here.
I love the new co-ordinated range of papers, inks and scrummy ribbon. I can't wait to have a little play with these later! The stamps are a Christmas set that I wanted last year but never got around to buying.

A busy week again here - so no crafting again. I don't think I have shown this card yet, it's one I made a while back for a forum friend. I used Crate Samantha papers which are one of my all time favourites, and a bit of bling.
